For the military industry, not only technology such as optical sights are being developed with the help of lasers. The marking of weapons is very important. Every weapon, including at home, must have its own identification number and permit. It is not possible to remove the engraving, unless mechanically, but then the traces of removal remain and it is obvious that the weapon is illegal. So laser engraving is the only reliable way to mark it properly.
